This chart and tree begins with the Rev. Robert Traill and Ann Hayes, the parents of the brothers Robert (b. 1843) and Edmund (b. 1846?) who emigrated from Ireland in 1866, choosing to settle in Argentina - choosing it over Australia (too far) and South Africa (too hot).  Note that:

  1. On this page, generation numbering begins with the Rev. Robert Traill at generation #4.  Previous generations are listed in the predecessor tree of Trail/Traill ancestors, most were born and lived in Scotland — accessed via the above TRAILL Family button.
  2. We have omitted living members of the family (in 2025).
  3. Estancia Chirú (named after an indian chief) is near the village of TRAILL – 10-15 km. east of San Jorge (town).  The village, never large, is shrinking.  It has been in existance for more then 100 years.  However, its train station was closed (& its railroad siding removed) before 2000.  The rail-road is a trunk line between Rosario/SFé, and the far north-west provinces (Tucuman, Salta, & Jujuy).  I recall hearing/seeing long multi-engine trains rumble past Chirú in the mid-1950s.
